Breaking News: Outrage as Ibom Air Passenger Comfort Emmanson, Assaulted by Crew Members, Remanded in Kirikiri Prison by Lagos Court While Wasiu Ayinde Was Begged and Walked Freely
Nigerians are expressing fury over the detention of Comfort Emmanson, the passenger assaulted and dragged off an Ibom Air flight, who has now been remanded in Kirikiri Correctional Facility by a Lagos court.
The incident, which occurred on a flight inbound Lagos from Uyo, saw Emmanson allegedly humiliated, stripped, and forcibly removed by crew members after a disagreement over her refusal to switch off her mobile phone before takeoff.
Tunde Moshood, Special Adviser on Media and Communications to the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, confirmed her remand, sparking outrage and renewed accusations of bias in Nigeria’s aviation sector.
Many have compared her treatment to that of Fuji music legend Wasiu Ayinde, a close friend of President Bola Tinubu, who was accused of pouring water on a pilot and blocking a ValueJet aircraft from departing. Ayinde reportedly faced no detention and was “begged” before being allowed to walk free.
Public reaction has been swift, with calls for justice and equal treatment under the law gaining momentum across social media.
