Breaking News: GRV Slams APC Over Flooding, Urges Lagosians to Try a New Party

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), the Labour Party’s former governorship candidate in Lagos State, has criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for failing to address the recurring flooding crisis in the state despite being in power for over two decades.

In a post shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, September 23, Rhodes-Vivour expressed sympathy to residents who endured severe flooding across Lagos. He said many had to spend their hard-earned money repairing cars and houses damaged by floodwaters, while others prayed their vehicles would not break down as water rose to knee level in several parts of the city.

“My heart goes out to all the people that would be spending their hard-earned money on car repairs and house repairs at such a difficult time in Nigeria and with school fees and other bills pending,” GRV wrote.

He lamented that some Lagosians got home past midnight as a result of the gridlock caused by the flooding. According to him, the APC-led government has “tried and failed” for over 20 years, offering excuses each year without finding lasting solutions.

“The APC Lagos have tried their best for over 20 years, every year they give you a different excuse. They have tried, they have failed. It is time to try something different. You deserve better, you can have better,” he added, signing off with the hashtag #OurLagos.

The post has since sparked conversations online, with many Lagosians sharing their own frustrations over the perennial flooding problem.
