Breaking News: Outrage as NURTW Chieftain “Shamelon” Brutalizes Dispatch Rider on Lagos Island
Residents of Lagos Island have expressed outrage after a violent attack involving a top official of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), identified as Shamsideen Adio, popularly known as “Shamelon.”
The incident occurred on Tapa Street, Lagos Island, when the NURTW chieftain allegedly descended on a dispatch rider for obstructing his way while driving. Eyewitnesses told Lagos Reporters that Shamelon mercilessly beat the rider, joined by some of his friends and colleagues, leaving the victim battered and struggling for survival.
A video obtained by Lagos Reporters shows passersby and residents making frantic efforts to rescue the dispatch rider from the brutal onslaught, but the attack continued until he was left seriously injured.
The incident has sparked widespread anger, with residents demanding justice and calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of Shamelon and his accomplices.
“This level of lawlessness is unacceptable. No one is above the law, and justice must be served,” a resident told Lagos Reporters.
As at the time of filing this report, police authorities are yet to issue an official statement regarding the assault or possible arrests.
