Breaking News: Police Arrest Two Over Armed Robbery and Attempted Murder of Afrobeat Star Lil Kesh in Lagos

The Kano State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to the armed robbery and attempted murder of Afrobeat artiste, Lil Kesh, who was attacked and robbed of over ₦2 million in Lagos State.

The arrest comes weeks after speculation on social media suggested the ex-YBNL signee had been assaulted in August, when a blurry image of him with visible injuries circulated online, raising concerns about his safety.

Confirming the development on Saturday, the command’s Public Relations Officer, Abdullahi Haruna, revealed that tactical operatives apprehended the suspects—25-year-old Mathew Adewole of Na’ibawa Quarters, Kano, and 31-year-old Mukhtar Muhammad of Unguwa Uku Quarters—on September 11, 2025, at Na’ibawa Quarters.

According to Haruna, Adewole confessed during interrogation that he attacked the artiste, who resides at Bera Estate, Chevron, Lagos, on August 19, 2025. The assault left Lil Kesh with a deep cut to his neck.

“The suspects forced the victim to transfer ₦2,120,000 from his account via mobile phone to Muhammad’s account,” Haruna disclosed.

He added that the breakthrough was achieved through robust intelligence gathering and community collaboration, in line with the directive of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to strengthen proactive policing strategies.

The suspects have since been handed over to the Lagos State Police Command for further investigation and prosecution.
