Breaking News: Sanwo-Olu Marks Blue Line Anniversary with 50% Fare Slash for Lagos Rail Passengers
Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has announced a 50 percent discount on fares for the Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) Blue Line to commemorate its second anniversary. The discount will take effect on Thursday, September 4, 2025.
In a statement shared on his official X handle on Wednesday, the governor expressed pride in the milestones achieved by the Blue Line since its launch. According to him, the rail line has successfully transported more than five million passengers in just two years without a single accident.
“Two years ago, we took a bold step with the launch of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit Blue Line. Today, as I look back on how far we have come, I feel a deep sense of pride and gratitude,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He further highlighted that trains now operate every ten minutes, making over 90 trips daily, drastically reducing travel time for Lagosians.
“To mark this second anniversary, I am pleased to announce a 50 percent reduction in fares on the Blue Line for tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, 2025. If you have not yet experienced the Blue Line, I encourage you to take a ride and see what we have built together,” the governor said.
Sanwo-Olu reassured residents that the administration remains committed to improving transportation in the state, adding that the Blue Line is only the beginning of building “a Lagos where moving around is easier, safer, and faster.”
