JUST IN: Edo councillors begin impeachment of acting council chairmen
Councillors across the 18 local government areas of Edo State on Monday commenced the impeachment of Acting Chairmen of the councils.
The move came less than 24 hours after 59 elected councillors were presented with their Certificates of Return.
According to sources within the Edo All Progressives Congress (APC), the decision was aimed at ensuring APC members assume leadership of the councils, instead of defectors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In Uhunmwonde, eight Councillors impeached Hon. Iradia Benjamin, while the Acting Chairman of Esan West, Hon. Aigboboh, resigned voluntarily to avoid impeachment.
