Breaking News: Outrage as Fulani Herdsmen Take Over Kwara, Residents Flee Oke-Ode, Say Gov AbdulRazaq Abandoned Them, Demand Federal Intervention
Fear and outrage have gripped Oke-Ode community in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State as residents flee their homes following sustained attacks and mass kidnappings allegedly carried out by armed Fulani herdsmen.
The worsening insecurity has left families displaced, with many accusing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of abandoning them to their fate. Distraught villagers told Lagos Reporters that the situation has become unbearable, forcing hundreds to relocate to neighboring communities for safety.
“We cannot live here anymore. Armed men have taken over. Our governor has abandoned us. Only the Federal Government can save us now,” one resident said.
The community’s cry comes barely days after 12 vigilantes, including the Baale of Ogbayo, were brutally murdered in the same area during a bandits’ raid, leaving residents in mourning and fear of further attacks.
Community leaders are now demanding urgent Federal intervention, including deployment of soldiers and special security forces, warning that if nothing is done swiftly, Kwara could be “emptied” of its residents.
The wave of abductions and killings has deepened anxiety across the state, with fears that the crisis could spread to other parts of Kwara if left unchecked.
