Dominion Broadcast Group Denies Encroachment Allegation, Seeks Peaceful Resolution with Oyo NUJ
The management of Dominion Broadcast Group (DBG) has dismissed allegations by the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, accusing the organization of attempting to encroach on a parcel of land beside the NUJ Press Centre at Iyaganku, Ibadan.
In a statement signed by its Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Femi Adefila, DBG described the claim as a “misunderstanding” of its intentions, emphasizing that the organization had no interest in forceful acquisition or trespass of the said property.
According to the statement, Dominion Broadcast Group’s engagement with the NUJ was purely in good faith and aimed at fostering a mutually beneficial partnership that would contribute to the growth and development of the media industry in Oyo State and beyond.
“Dominion Broadcast Group has no interest whatsoever in forceful acquisition or trespass of the said property. Our approach to the NUJ was in good faith, seeking a mutually beneficial partnership that would promote the growth of the media ecosystem,” the statement read.
DBG further reaffirmed its respect for the NUJ’s role in protecting press freedom and media integrity, stating that as a responsible and law-abiding organization, it remains committed to professionalism, collaboration, and community development.
“We have the greatest respect for the union, and as members, we will not be party to any move that would be detrimental to the interest of the union,” Mr. Adefila added.
The media group reiterated its openness to dialogue and constructive engagement with the NUJ leadership to resolve any concerns amicably, while calling on the public and media practitioners to disregard any contrary insinuations.
Dominion Broadcast Group assured that it remains committed to ethical journalism, transparency, and partnership in the collective interest of media advancement in Oyo State.
