Mogaji Niyi Aborisade Marks Birthday in Grand Style, Reaffirms 2027 Governorship Ambition
It was a celebration of class and camaraderie as Barrister Niyi Aborisade, the Mogaji of Ajagba Compound in Oke-Ofa Babasale, marked his birthday in grand style at his Bodija country home Saturday 18th of October in Ibadan. His birthday Originally 15th of October was celebrated days later for people traveling from abroad to be a part of the celebration.
The well-attended event drew dignitaries from across Nigeria and beyond, including guests from the United Kingdom and the United States. Among the prominent attendees were Ambassador Yemi Farounbi, Nigeria’s former envoy to the Philippines; renowned arts and culture expert, Prince Tunde Odunlade; Mr Wasiu Abiola and several political heavyweights within Oyo State like Hon. Yinka Taiwo, former PDP chairman in Oyo State. Friends, family, and associates from all walks of life also joined in the joyous celebration.
In his remarks to journalists, Barrister Aborisade—who is widely regarded as a 2027 gubernatorial hopeful under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)—expressed deep gratitude for the love and support shown to him. He extended heartfelt appreciation to everyone who honored his invitation, describing their presence as a mark of true friendship and solidarity.
The celebrant also seized the occasion to congratulate the PDP on its successful state congress, commending the newly elected state executives. He urged Nigerians to remain steadfast in their faith in the democratic process and called on eligible citizens to register for their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs). He further appealed to registered voters in Oyo State to ensure they collect their PVCs ahead of the next general elections.
When asked about his rumored gubernatorial ambition, Barrister Aborisade affirmed his readiness to serve the people of Oyo State if given the opportunity. He stated that his desire to contest in 2027 stems from a passion to deliver the dividends of democracy “the Awolowo way”—anchored on integrity, selfless service, and people-oriented governance.
In his goodwill message, Ambassador Yemi Farounbi described the celebrant as “a good man with great intentions for the people,” praying that his political aspiration will come to fruition in 2027.
The event was filled with glitz, glamour, and heartfelt tributes, as guests toasted to the life and achievements of a man many described as a visionary leader and a bridge-builder committed to the progress of Oyo State.
