UCL: Slot Dismisses Sack Fears After Liverpool’s Humiliating 4–1 Loss to PSV
Liverpool manager Arne Slot says he is unfazed by growing calls for his dismissal despite the Reds’ crushing 4–1 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash.
The loss extends Liverpool’s alarming slump, with the team now suffering nine defeats in their last 12 matches across all competitions.
Ahead of the trip to the Netherlands, the Reds had endured consecutive 3–0 losses to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest. The poor run has left the former European champions languishing in 12th place in the Premier League and 13th in their Champions League group—piling even more pressure on Slot in his debut season at Anfield.
When asked directly if he feared being sacked, Slot remained calm.
“I’m not worried,” he said. “What I mean by that is that my focus is on other things than worrying about my own position. I try to analyze, try to help the players as much as I can, and it’s obvious that I’m not doing it the way I did last season.
“When you talk about individual errors, I think that’s also something that comes from a team effort.”
Despite mounting frustrations among supporters, the Dutchman insists he is focused solely on fixing Liverpool’s on-field issues—not the speculation surrounding his future.
