After Tinubu, I’m Nigeria’s Most Abused Politician — Wike Fixes January 2026 for Rivers Politics
Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has described himself as the most abused politician in Nigeria after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while announcing that political activities in Rivers State will formally commence in January 2026.
Wike made the remarks on Saturday during a thanksgiving service organised in honour of a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chibudom Nwuche, at Ochiba community in Ahoada East Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The former Rivers State governor reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to President Tinubu, stressing that he is a man of his word who does not renege on agreements entered into in good faith. According to him, his political decisions are guided by principles, accountability, and respect for mutual understanding.
Wike also expressed appreciation to the people of Ahoada East and Ahoada West for their consistent support over the years, noting that their loyalty has remained unshaken despite political pressures.
Reflecting on the 2023 general elections, the FCT minister praised the residents for standing firmly with Tinubu at a time when many political actors were unsure of their positions. He said their courage and resolve contributed significantly to strengthening the President’s mandate in Rivers State.
In an apparent swipe at politicians who recently aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Wike suggested that their support came belatedly and lacked the conviction shown by his supporters during critical moments.
He warned that political agreements must be respected as the next election cycle approaches, adding that his political camp would not tolerate being taken for granted. Wike attributed the frequent attacks against him to his insistence on accountability and fidelity to agreements, alleging that some politicians target him for selfish interests.
Earlier in his remarks, Chibudom Nwuche lauded Wike for his developmental strides in Ekpeye Kingdom, particularly the elevation of several traditional stools during his tenure as governor. He said Wike’s leadership left a lasting impact on the people, earning him sustained loyalty across the area.
