Breaking News: Alaafin of Oyo to Install Seyi Tinubu as Okanlomo of Yorubaland
The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Abimbola Owoade, has finalized arrangements to bestow the revered traditional title of Okanlomo of Yorubaland on Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Details obtained from a flyer sighted by Lagos Reporters indicate that the installation ceremony will take place on Sunday, December 21, 2025, in Oyo town.
Also slated to be honoured at the event is former Zamfara State Governor, Abdulaziz Abubakar Yari, who will receive the traditional title of Obaloyin of Yorubaland.
The ceremony is particularly significant as it represents the first set of traditional titles to be conferred by Oba Owoade since his ascension to the throne as the 46th Alaafin of Oyo in April 2025.
The occasion is expected to attract traditional rulers, political leaders, cultural stakeholders and dignitaries from across Yorubaland and beyond, in what is anticipated to be a grand celebration of Yoruba culture, heritage and unity.
