Sanwo-Olu Rewards Excellence, Gifts Cars, ₦165.5m Cash to 177 Outstanding Lagos Civil Servants
The Lagos State Government has honoured 177 outstanding public servants with five brand new cars and a total cash reward of ₦165.5 million, reaffirming its commitment to recognising excellence and encouraging consistent service delivery across the state.
The awards were presented by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu during the 2025 Mr. Governor’s Luncheon held at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa, Ikeja. The event brought together top-performing officers from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), as well as Local Government Areas and Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The beneficiaries were selected from both senior and junior categories of the Lagos State Public Service.
In the senior category, five out of 99 awardees emerged winners of brand new cars through a raffle draw, while the remaining 94 officers received ₦1 million each. In the junior category, five outstanding staff were awarded ₦5 million each, while 73 others received ₦500,000 each.
Governor Sanwo-Olu also announced the promotion of the Director-General, Office of Transformation, Creativity and Innovation (OTCI), Mrs. Toyin Anjous-Ademuyiwa, to the rank of Permanent Secretary. In addition, he presented a cash gift of ₦10 million to staff of the office in recognition of their role in positioning Lagos on the national and global stage.
Speaking at the event, the governor urged public servants to remain diligent, disciplined and consistent in the discharge of their duties, stressing that excellence must be sustained over time.
“The recognition of these outstanding officers is a deliberate effort to reward excellence and encourage consistency in service delivery,” Sanwo-Olu said. “Public servants must identify their strengths, continually refine them and remain committed to high standards.”
He further noted that the achievements recorded across Lagos State were the result of collective effort, adding that the public service remains central to effective governance and sustainable development.
The luncheon, which has become an annual tradition, underscores the Sanwo-Olu administration’s resolve to motivate the workforce and entrench a culture of excellence within the Lagos State Public Service.
