Killer-Suspects of Woman, Six Children in Police Net

The Kano State Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the killing of a woman and her six children in Dorayi Chiranchi Quarters of the state, in a case that has shocked residents and drawn national attention.

According to reports by The Nation and other newspapers, the victims — identified as 35-year-old Fatima Abubakar and her six children — were found dead in their residence on Saturday afternoon, prompting an immediate security response and a full-scale investigation by the police.

The command’s spokesperson, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said the arrests followed an intelligence-driven operation directed by the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, and coordinated by the state Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori.

Police identified the suspects as Umar Auwalu, 23, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters; Isyaku Yakubu (also known as “Chebe”), 40, of Sagagi Quarters; and Yakubu Abdulaziz (also known as “Wawo”), 21, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters.

Investigators said the arrests were made during a late-night operation carried out between Saturday and early Sunday as part of efforts to track down those allegedly linked to the crime. Items recovered from the suspects include mobile phones believed to belong to the victims, clothing and other materials said to be relevant to the investigation.

The police added that preliminary findings indicate the suspects may be connected to other criminal activities within the Kano metropolis, though further investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the killings and determine whether more persons were involved.

Residents of the area have expressed grief and concern over the incident, calling for swift justice and improved security measures to prevent a recurrence of such tragedies.

The Kano State Police Command assured the public that the suspects would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations, reiterating its commitment to ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
