INEC Announces New Dates for 2027 General Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced new dates for the 2027 general elections.

The electoral umpire disclosed the revised timetable in a statement issued on Tuesday, stating that the adjustment was made to ensure adequate preparation and smooth conduct of the polls.

According to INEC, the presidential and National Assembly elections will now hold on [insert new date], while the governorship and State House of Assembly elections are scheduled for [insert new date].

INEC explained that the change aligns with provisions of the Electoral Act and is aimed at improving logistics, voter education, and stakeholder engagement ahead of the exercise.
