Borno Attack: “Nigerians Slaughtered Daily While Politicians Plot for 2027” – Peter Obi

Former presidential candidate and prominent opposition figure, Peter Obi, has condemned the ongoing insecurity in Borno State, accusing politicians of focusing on the 2027 elections while citizens continue to suffer from terrorist attacks.

Obi made the remarks during a recent media interaction, lamenting that ordinary Nigerians are being killed daily in attacks by insurgents, including Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), while political elites engage in election planning.

“Our people are being slaughtered in Borno and across the country every day. Yet, politicians are busy scheming and planning for 2027. This is unacceptable,” Obi said.

He further urged the Federal Government and security agencies to prioritise the protection of lives over political calculations, emphasizing that citizens’ safety should be the foremost concern.

Obi’s comments reflect growing frustration among Nigerians over persistent insecurity, particularly in the North-East, where insurgent attacks, kidnappings, and raids continue to terrorize communities despite government assurances.

The former governor also warned that failure to tackle insecurity could undermine confidence in governance and electoral processes ahead of the 2027 general elections, stressing that national security must come before political ambitions.
