Elege Storms Ona Ara Political Scene, Promises Fresh Leadership for Constituency
A vibrant youth leader and grassroots mobilizer, Hon. Ismaeel Sodiq Opeyemi, popularly known as Elege, has intensified consultations with political stakeholders and residents across communities in Ona Ara Local Government Area ahead of his aspiration to contest for the Oyo State House of Assembly seat representing Ona Ara Constituency in the 2027 general elections.
Opeyemi, a graduate of the University of Ibadan, is widely regarded as an energetic and industrious young leader with a strong passion for community development and effective representation.
The youthful aspirant, who enjoys growing support among youths and community leaders in the constituency, said his decision to join the race was motivated by the desire to serve the people and contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of Ona Ara.

“My aspiration is not just about politics; it is about service, development and creating opportunities for our people. I believe Ona Ara deserves representation that will prioritize the welfare of the people and bring the dividends of democracy closer to every community,” he said.
He noted that his legislative agenda, if given the mandate, would focus on youth empowerment, educational development, infrastructural improvement, job creation and programs that would uplift the socio-economic wellbeing of residents.
Opeyemi also stressed the importance of increased youth participation in governance, stating that young people must not only participate in elections but also take active roles in leadership and policy making.
“As youths, we must begin to take responsibility for the future of our communities. My aspiration is about providing a new vision for Ona Ara and working together with the people to achieve sustainable development,” he added.
While responding to questions on the political platform he intends to contest under, Opeyemi disclosed that consultations were ongoing and that he would soon make public the political party through which he intends to pursue his ambition.
“I am currently consulting widely with leaders, stakeholders and supporters across the constituency. At the appropriate time, I will officially disclose the political party I will be joining to pursue this aspiration,” he stated.
Political observers within Ona Ara have described Opeyemi as a humble and accessible personality who maintains strong ties with the grassroots and is committed to community service.
