Fraud Crackdown: Court Jails Ex-AGoF Nwabuoku for 8 Years Over N868m Scam

A court has sentenced former Acting Accountant-General of the Federation, Chukwunyere Nwabuoku, to eight years imprisonment over a fraud involving N868 million.

The conviction follows a trial in which prosecutors detailed how the former top government official was linked to financial irregularities and misappropriation of public funds.

The court, after reviewing the evidence presented, found Nwabuoku guilty and handed down the jail term as punishment for the offences.

The case is part of broader anti-corruption efforts by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) aimed at tackling financial crimes and ensuring accountability in public service.

Legal observers say the judgment sends a strong signal about the consequences of corruption within government institutions in Nigeria.

The ruling is expected to reinforce ongoing campaigns to promote transparency and deter misuse of public funds.
