NURTW Crisis Escalates: Police Arrest Baruwa After Secretariat Takeover

The leadership crisis rocking the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) has taken a new turn as police authorities have arrested factional leader Tajudeen Baruwa following the takeover of the union’s national secretariat.

Security sources said the arrest was carried out to restore order after tensions flared between rival factions within the union.

The development comes shortly after Baruwa’s group announced the removal of Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, further deepening the crisis.

Authorities are said to be investigating the circumstances surrounding the takeover, including possible breaches of public peace and internal union regulations.

The situation has heightened concerns among transport operators and stakeholders, given the strategic role of the union in road transport operations across Nigeria.

Observers warn that the escalating dispute could disrupt transport activities if not swiftly resolved.

The Nigeria Police Force has assured the public that necessary steps are being taken to maintain law and order.
