Tension on Zamfara Road as Suspected Bandits Ambush Travellers, Two Injured
Fear gripped motorists after suspected bandits launched an ambush on travellers along a highway in Zamfara State, leaving two people injured.
Sources said the attack occurred when armed men believed to be bandits suddenly opened fire on vehicles moving along the route, forcing many motorists to flee the scene in panic.
Two travellers reportedly sustained injuries during the incident and were later taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment.
Security sources noted that the highway has been a target of repeated attacks by criminal groups operating in parts of North West Nigeria, raising concerns about the safety of road users.
Residents and commuters have continued to call for stronger security presence along major highways in Nigeria to curb the activities of bandits and other armed groups.
