Kuso Empowers 100 Residents in Ibarapa East, Reaffirms Commitment to Grassroots Development
A leading chairmanship aspirant in Ibarapa East Local Government, Hon. Abdul Akeem Akintola, popularly known as Kuso, on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, sustained his philanthropic outreach with the empowerment of 100 residents across the council area.
The initiative, tagged “2026 Continuity Cash Empowerment,” was held at the Eruwa Township Hall and drew a large crowd of party leaders, stakeholders, and beneficiaries, particularly from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the local government.
Beneficiaries were selected evenly across the ten wards in Ibarapa East, with 10 individuals picked from each ward to receive financial support aimed at boosting their small-scale businesses and livelihoods.
The event witnessed a strong turnout of party faithful and community leaders, underscoring Kuso’s growing grassroots appeal and longstanding reputation for supporting the masses.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Ibarapa East Local Government, Alhaji Aderibigbe Ganiyu, who was represented by the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Ogundele Taiwo, commended the aspirant for his consistent humanitarian efforts. He apologised for the chairman’s absence and urged beneficiaries to reciprocate the gesture with appreciation and responsible use of the funds.
Also speaking, the Local Government Women Leader, Mrs. Ayaoba Abiola, described Kuso as a compassionate leader who genuinely cares for the people, offering prayers for his continued success.
In a testimonial that drew emotional reactions from attendees, a community leader from Lanlate, Elder Ajibola, recounted an incident in 2011 when he was attacked by miscreants.
He narrated how Kuso intervened, chased away the attackers, and bought him a pair of shoes. According to him, he wore the same shoes to the event as a symbol of gratitude and testimony to Kuso’s kindness.
Another stakeholder, Elder Jolaoso from Lanlate, called on residents of Eruwa and the entire local government to support Kuso’s ambition, pledging Lanlate’s loyalty and warning against betrayal.
Similarly, a party chieftain from Eruwa, Mr. Dicking Ogundokun, said the aspirant had done enough to earn the trust and support of the people. He added that Kuso had expressed a desire to leave a lasting legacy in his hometown despite having achieved personal success.
In his remarks, Kuso reflected on his personal journey, admitting that he was once perceived as tough and stubborn but had undergone significant transformation after encountering Governor Seyi Makinde. He clarified that his firm stance against injustice, cheating, and oppression may have contributed to such perceptions.
The aspirant stressed that his empowerment programmes were not politically motivated, insisting they were borne out of genuine concern for the welfare of the people. He highlighted previous interventions, including the distribution of 200 solar units, 10,000 textbooks, and the provision of boreholes in various communities.
He urged party members and residents to embrace unity and love, promising to expand developmental initiatives if elected as chairman.
The empowerment exercise concluded with ward chairmen presenting beneficiaries, who received their cash support directly from Kuso and his wife, Mrs. Akintola, in a symbolic hand-to-hand distribution.
