Tinubu Was One of Those Who Taught Me How to Defend Democracy; He Wowed Us By Attacking OBJ - Momodu
Chief Dele Momodu, a Nigerian journalist and PDP chieftain, stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was one of those who taught him how to defend democracy and that Tinubu impressed them by continuously criticizing former President Obasanjo back then.
Dele Momodu made this statement through his official X (formerly Twitter) account in response to a Twitter user who had criticized him for his earlier remarks about President Tinubu. He had previously mentioned that he wasn't aware that Tinubu had not resolved all the ongoing issues from the past and that his seemingly invincible demeanor was finally catching up with him. Momodu also pointed out that he didn't know Tinubu was planning to extend the dictatorial approach that had kept him in control of Lagos for 24 years to the national level.

In response to the Twitter user, Dele Momodu emphasized that President Tinubu was one of his mentors in defending democracy and that he admired Tinubu for his relentless attacks on President Obasanjo and his refusal to be intimidated. He even mentioned that Tinubu had taken Obasanjo to court over the seized federal allocations to Lagos, and they all applauded his courage. He clarified that his comments about Tinubu were about the betterment of Nigeria and were not personal.

"Tinubu was one of those who taught me how to defend democracy. He wowed us by attacking President Obasanjo endlessly. He refused to be bullied. May be your sense of history is too young to remember how he sued Obasanjo to court over the seized Federal allocations to Lagos. We all hailed his courage. This is about our country and nothing personal... So calm down..."
