Police in Oyo State are on the trail of sponsors of Yoruba nation agitators who invaded government secretariat in Ibadan on Saturday.
The agitators attempted to seize control of the assembly by breaking into the Oyo State House of Assembly complex, which is housed inside the secretariat, and raising their flag there.
21 agitators who had been detained were paraded in front of reporters in Ibadan on Monday by Mr. Adebola Hamzat, the Commissioner of Police for Oyo State.
The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Mr Adebola Hamzat, paraded 21 of the agitators arrested before newsmen in Ibadan on Monday.
He claimed that some of the people detained had been making lists of their sponsors' identities and that investigators had been to several places in Oyo State where they had found evidence of their guilt.
Hamzat recounted that during the invasion, one of the agitators who resisted arrest was hurt in a gunfight with the police, while another was hurt as a member of Amotekun Corps, the security network of states in the Southwest.
He emphasised that there had been no deaths reported to the police throughout the episode.
