Breaking News: LASIEC Releases Lagos 2025 LG Poll Timetable — Elections Hold July 12

The Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) has officially released the timetable for the 2025 Local Government elections, putting to rest the growing public anxiety over the delay.

According to the newly released schedule, political campaigns and rallies by registered political parties will commence on April 18, 2025, and end on July 9, 2025. The main election is scheduled to hold on Saturday, July 12, 2025, across all 20 Local Government Areas (LGAs) and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) in Lagos State. A run-off or re-run election, if necessary, will take place on Saturday, July 19, 2025.

Lagos Reporters had earlier published a report highlighting that LASIEC was yet to release the election timetable, despite only weeks remaining in the tenure of the incumbent Chairmen and Councillors. The report raised public concern and drew attention to the potential constitutional and administrative implications of a delayed timetable.

Following the publication, LASIEC convened an emergency meeting and, shortly after, released the official timetable, indicating a swift response to public and media pressure.

Lagos Reporters will provide comprehensive coverage of the campaigns, election day activities, voter turnout, and post-election developments to keep the public informed and engaged throughout the electoral process.

With the timetable now released, political activities are expected to intensify as parties prepare to contest for leadership at the grassroots level.
