Breaking News: Tinubu Summons Fubara, Wike for Emergency Reconciliation as Rivers Crisis Boils Over

President Bola Tinubu on Thursday night presided over a high-stakes reconciliation meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja in a renewed effort to resolve the lingering political turmoil in Rivers State.

The closed-door session brought together key actors in the conflict, including the suspended Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and other Assembly members.

The intervention comes three months after President Tinubu declared a political emergency in the state on March 18, suspending Governor Fubara, his deputy, and all members of the State Assembly over escalating political tensions and leadership breakdown.

Sources within the Presidency said the Thursday meeting was convened to defuse the deepening divisions threatening governance in Rivers and to restore political stability through dialogue.

Though the outcome of the meeting remains under wraps, political observers believe the President’s involvement signals a critical turning point in efforts to avert further instability in one of Nigeria’s most economically significant states.
