TikTok Skit Lands Kano Content Creator in Jail Over ‘Indecency’
A Kano magistrate court in the Nomansland area has ordered the remand of popular TikTok comedian Umar Hisham Fagge, known as Tsulange, over a controversial skit that sparked outr+ge online and offline.
Tsulange was arrested and arraigned by the Kano State Censorship Board after he filmed himself bathing on a public road while wearing women’s underwear—an act the board said violates public decency, cultural norms, and Islamic values.
Magistrate Hadiza Muhammad Hassan ruled that he be held in a correctional facility until July 3, 2025, while investigations continue.
The Censorship Board, in a statement by its spokesperson Abdullahi Sani Sulaiman, said the skit was “deeply off+nsive” and reflects a troubling rise in “disr¥ptive entertainment under the guise of humor.”
Authorities also pointed out that Tsulange is known for filming in high-traffic areas, often blocking roads to create viral content. The Kano State Police had earlier warned content creators against such behavior.
Abba El-Mustapha, head of the Censorship Board, said the agency will not tolerate social media acts that undermine morality or disrupt public order.
