FG Sets Minimum Admission Age for Tertiary Institutions at 16
The Federal Government has formally established 16 as the minimum age for admission into all tertiary institutions across the country.

This announcement was made by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, during the opening of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) Policy Meeting held in Abuja on Tuesday.

Dr. Alausa stressed that the age requirement is non-negotiable and must be strictly enforced. He also warned that any admission process conducted outside the Central Admission Processing System (CAPS) will be considered illegal, with those involved facing prosecution.

The minister further cautioned heads of institutions against engaging in admission-related fraud, stating that offenders will be held accountable under the law.
