Breaking News: Fubara Returns to Government House After Six Months, Will Address Rivers State at 6:00 PM
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has officially resumed duties at the Government House in Port Harcourt after six months away from office.
Fubara returned on Friday morning, landing at Port Harcourt International Airport around 11:50 a.m., where he received a rousing welcome from supporters. He later proceeded to the Government House, addressing the jubilant crowd.
“I know everybody wants to hear something from me. In fact, I expected it when I landed,” the governor said. “Let me first of all appreciate the wonderful people of Rivers State. I am really humbled by what I saw at the Airport. That reception really humbled me. It shows love, confidence and solidarity.”
Governor Fubara assured the people of his continued commitment to delivering good governance. “We will, by the grace of God, continue to give those things that made you people love us. I want to thank everybody and to say that we love you, but God loves you more,” he added.
He also announced that he would be addressing the state in a broadcast at 6:00 p.m. today, marking his full return to office.
His comeback comes barely 24 hours after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu lifted the emergency rule declared in Rivers State on March 18, which had suspended normal governance and installed retired Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas as sole administrator.
