Chaos erupted on Tuesday after a fire broke out at the United Bank for Africa (UBA) branch located in Afriland Towers, Broad Street, Lagos Island.

Eyewitnesses said a man jumped from the sixth floor in a desperate attempt to escape the inferno, while other staff were seen leaping from windows to save their lives. Thick smoke covered the building as panic spread across the busy commercial area.

Emergency services, including fire fighters and security operatives, responded swiftly to contain the blaze and evacuate trapped occupants. Officials confirmed that the situation has since been brought under control, though the exact cause of the fire remains unknown.

Reporters had earlier reported that Afriland Towers, which houses the UBA branch on Broad Street, was engulfed by flames with many people feared trapped inside.

As of press time, no official casualties have been reported. Lagos Reporters will continue to monitor developments and provide updates.
