Lagos CP Jimoh Quells Protest, Suspect Arrested for Murder, Assault
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested Samsideen Oladiti, alias “Shamelon,” in connection with a murder and an assault on Lagos Island. He is currently in custody at SCID, Panti-Yaba.
On 17th September 2025, 55-year-old Oladiti allegedly assaulted a dispatch rider, leaving him hospitalized.
On 18th September 2025, another complaint was lodged against the same suspect in connection with an incident that occurred on 28th August 2025. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly used a metallic ring to repeatedly strike a man on the head and face, inflicting severe injuries. Despite medical intervention, the victim was confirmed dead by a doctor on 17th September 2025. His body has since been deposited in the mortuary for autopsy.
Following the victim’s death, protesters stormed Sandgrouse Market, setting two of the suspect’s motorcycles on fire. CP Olohundare Jimoh led a police team to the scene, quickly restoring order and assuring the public of justice.
The Police Command urges residents to remain calm, cooperate with ongoing investigations, and avoid taking the law into their own hands.
