Breaking News: Lagos Police Raid Mushin Hotel Used by Armed Robbers — Recover Guns, Ammunition, and Hard Drugs
The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two suspected armed robbers and recovered firearms, ammunition, and hard drugs during a coordinated raid on a hotel allegedly used as a criminal hideout in the Akala area of Mushin, Lagos.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Abimbola Adebisi, the operation followed credible intelligence after officers sighted four suspected robbers at Empire Junction by Jibonwu around 10 a.m. on Friday.
She said the suspects attempted to flee upon sighting the police, but one, identified as 21-year-old Toheeb Adeboye, was intercepted with a bag containing a locally made cut-to-size single-barrel gun, an English Barreter pistol with two live 9mm rounds, and another locally made pistol with ten live cartridges.
During interrogation, Adeboye reportedly confessed that the gang had just returned from a robbery operation in Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State, and were heading to their usual hideout the New Supreme Hotel in Akala, Mushin to share their loot.
Acting swiftly on this confession, police operatives raided the hotel and arrested another gang member, 33-year-old Ajayi Adeniyi, who was found in possession of a locally fabricated pistol. Officers also recovered a laptop, charms, substances suspected to be Indian hemp, and hard drugs during the operation.
“The said hotel hideout has since been cordoned off permanently,” SP Adebisi confirmed, adding that both suspects and all recovered exhibits have been transferred to the State Command Headquarters for further investigation.
She further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members.
Commending the officers for their swift and professional action, the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood Jimoh, urged hotel operators across Lagos to conduct proper checks on guests and maintain accurate records of lodgers.
“Negligence by hotel owners can easily make their facilities havens for criminals. The police will not hesitate to sanction any establishment found aiding or harbouring suspected criminals,” the CP warned.
He reassured residents that the command remains fully committed to protecting lives and property, urging Lagosians to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods.
Reporters gathered that the raid was part of an ongoing crackdown on armed robbery gangs and drug-related activities across Lagos metropolis, particularly in Mushin, Agege, and Oshodi areas.
