Breaking: Fusengbuwa Ruling House Declares KWAM 1’s Awujale Application “Null and Void,” Rejects His Lineage Claim
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House of Ijebu-Ode has officially rejected the lineage claim submitted by Fuji icon, Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (popularly known as KWAM 1), declaring his application to participate in the Awujale selection process “null, void, and of no consequence.”
In a firm statement dated December 11, 2025, and addressed to the musician, the ruling house revealed that its internal review found no genealogical link between KWAM 1 and the Jadiara Royal House — a key branch under the Fusengbuwa lineage, which holds the right to present the next Awujale of Ijebuland.
The letter, signed by the Chairman of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, Otunba Lateef Owoyemi, dismissed the authenticity of the certification attached to Ayinde’s application. The document had been endorsed by Adetayo Abayomi Oduneye, whom the ruling house described as “a purported family unit head” with no official standing within the Jadiara Royal House.
Adding to the controversy, the ruling house raised concerns over the suspicious timeline of the endorsement. Oduneye allegedly certified the form on December 8, while KWAM 1 reportedly signed it two days later, on December 10 — a sequence the ruling house described as a “presigned irregularity.”
“Our extensive investigation has not revealed any proof of your membership of the Jadiara Royal House or, indeed, of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House,” the statement read. It further emphasized that Oduneye had “no locus standi” to validate any royal lineage claims.
With these findings, the ruling house concluded unequivocally:
“For the avoidance of doubt, your claim to the membership of Fusengbuwa Ruling House is rejected, and the completed form is of no consequence.”
This development adds to mounting tension surrounding the succession process for a new Awujale, following the passing of Oba Sikiru Adetona in July after a historic 65-year reign.
Earlier on Thursday, several recognized family heads also publicly disowned KWAM 1, insisting he has no ancestral ties to their lineages. The singer’s attempt to enter the contest has sparked widespread debate, especially given his longstanding association with the Fidipote Ruling House, under which he bears the title Olori Omooba of Ijebuland.
KWAM 1’s contested form claimed descent from the Setejoye family unit of the Jadiara Royal House through his late father, Adisa Adesanya Anifowoshe. The form was counter-signed by Oduneye — whose authority to do so is now being categorically challenged.
Multiple family heads from both the Jadiara and Bubiade units have since affirmed that neither KWAM 1 nor his father has any documented lineage ties to their families.
