Fresh Shake-Up at CBN: Tinubu Nominates Lamido Yuguda as Deputy Governor
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Lamido Abubakar Yuguda as a Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The nomination has been forwarded to the Nigerian Senate for confirmation, in line with constitutional requirements.
Yuguda currently serves as the Director-General of the Securities and Exchange Commission Nigeria, where he has been involved in overseeing regulatory activities in the country’s capital market.
If confirmed by the Senate, he will join the leadership team of the Central Bank responsible for monetary policy formulation, financial system stability and banking sector regulation in Nigeria.
The nomination comes amid ongoing efforts by the federal government to strengthen the leadership structure of the apex bank and reinforce confidence in the country’s financial system.
Analysts say Yuguda’s experience in financial regulation and capital market supervision could play a significant role in shaping policies aimed at stabilising the economy.
