War on Terror Intensifies as Tinubu Boosts Military Firepower
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has moved to strengthen Nigeria’s fight against terrorism by approving additional military equipment for the country’s armed forces.
The decision is part of renewed efforts by the Federal Government to reinforce the operational capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces in confronting insurgency, banditry and other security threats across the country.
Officials said the new equipment will enhance surveillance, intelligence gathering and combat readiness of troops deployed to various conflict zones.
Security experts believe the move could significantly improve the ability of the military to respond swiftly to attacks by terrorist groups and criminal networks operating in different parts of Nigeria.
The development comes amid continued military operations against insurgent groups, particularly in the North-East, where troops have been battling militants linked to Boko Haram and the Islamic State West Africa Province.
The Federal Government has repeatedly pledged to intensify the anti-terrorism campaign and restore lasting peace in affected communities.
