APC Mocks Obi Over ADC Exit, Says He Wants Free Presidential Ticket
The All Progressives Congress (APC) has mocked former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi following his reported exit from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), accusing him of seeking an easy path to secure a presidential ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
Reacting to Obi’s reported withdrawal from the ADC coalition talks, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka described the former Anambra governor as a “political rolling stone,” alleging that Obi’s constant political movement reflects personal ambition rather than ideological conviction.
Morka said Obi’s decision to step away from the ADC alliance was driven by his desire to secure what he called a “free presidential ticket” without facing internal resistance or competitive primaries. According to the APC spokesman, Obi’s political moves suggest he is more interested in personal convenience than building stable political alliances.
The ruling party also argued that Obi’s reported departure from the ADC further exposes what it called the fragility of the opposition coalition, which has struggled to present a united front ahead of the next general election.
Obi, who was one of the major opposition figures linked with ongoing coalition discussions, has yet to officially respond to the APC’s remarks. However, his reported disengagement from the ADC has fueled fresh speculation over his next political move and the platform he may eventually adopt for the 2027 presidential race.
The development is expected to deepen uncertainty within the opposition camp, where coalition talks have continued to face internal divisions over leadership, zoning, and presidential ambition.
