May Day: Aborisade Felicitates Oyo Workers, Positions Self as Clean Alternative
A leading governorship aspirant in Oyo State under the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Barrister Chief Niyi Aborisade, has congratulated workers across the state on the occasion of Workers’ Day, urging them to remain steadfast while advocating for a new direction in governance.
In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday, Aborisade, popularly known as BANA, described workers as the backbone of the state’s economy, whose sacrifices and resilience continue to sustain governance and development despite prevailing socio-economic challenges.
He commended the commitment of civil servants, artisans, and private sector employees, noting that their contributions remain invaluable to the growth of Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
“Workers are the engine room of any meaningful development. Your dedication, even in the face of hardship, is a testament to your strength and patriotism,” he said.
The ADC chieftain, however, used the opportunity to present himself as a credible and trustworthy alternative ahead of the 2027 governorship election, stressing that he has maintained a clean record throughout his public life.
Aborisade declared that he has never been involved in the mismanagement of public resources, nor participated in what he described as the “dubious sharing of state wealth,” adding that his background as a human rights activist has shaped his commitment to transparency, justice, and accountability.
“I stand before you as a neutral and natural advocate of the people, someone who has consistently fought for justice and fairness. I have never dipped my hands into the commonwealth of our state,” he stated.
He further criticised some political actors, alleging that individuals currently seeking public support have, at different times, held positions of authority and contributed to the challenges confronting the state and the nation.
According to him, “those deceiving the people today are not new to the system. They have been part of the structure that created the problems we are battling.”
The governorship hopeful urged workers and the general public to make informed decisions in future elections by supporting candidates with integrity and proven records.
“This is the time to try a clean, tested, and trustworthy personality. Oyo State deserves leadership that prioritises the welfare of its workers and the general populace,” he added.
Aborisade also promised that, if elected, his administration would prioritise workers’ welfare through prompt payment of salaries, improved working conditions, and policies that would enhance productivity and economic stability.
He reaffirmed his commitment to building a just and prosperous Oyo State where workers’ rights are protected and their contributions adequately rewarded.
The statement concluded with a call for unity among workers and citizens, urging them to remain hopeful and committed to the collective progress of the state.
