Oyo 2027: Walking the Talk, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK) Formally Picks APC Gubernatorial Forms
A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Dr. Adewale Kolapo Kareem (AKK), has formally picked his Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms at the party’s National Headquarters in Abuja, declaring his readiness to contest the 2027 governorship election in the state.
Kareem, in a statement issued after obtaining the forms, said the move was in strict compliance with the official directives and electoral guidelines of the APC, describing it as a demonstration of his commitment to democratic principles and party discipline.
The APC governorship hopeful described himself as a loyal party man and “thoroughbred democrat,” stressing that his decision to formally enter the race reflects his respect for the institutional framework of the ruling party.
He commended the National Working Committee and the leadership of the APC in Oyo State for what he described as an open, inclusive and transparent process that has provided all aspirants with a level playing field to contest.
Kareem said the development further reinforced the APC’s democratic credentials, noting that the party had once again demonstrated its standing as a leading progressive platform on the continent.
According to him, the decision to pick the nomination forms goes beyond political ambition and represents a firm commitment to practical governance and purposeful leadership.
He said his aspiration is driven by a desire to build a structured and industrialised Oyo State where citizens can thrive and their potential fully harnessed.
Kareem added that his ambition is anchored on research-based governance, policy precision and what he described as a patriotic commitment to the development of the state.
The APC aspirant said his mission in the 2027 race is to dislodge the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from the Agodi Government House and return the APC to power in the state.
He maintained that Oyo State needs transparent, proactive and intellectually driven leadership that places premium on human capital development rather than political expediency.
As the party moves closer to its primary election, Kareem said he would continue consultations with party members and delegates across the 33 local government areas of the state.
He expressed optimism that APC delegates would support his candidacy, which he described as the most viable option to secure victory for the party in the 2027 governorship election.
Kareem also reaffirmed his commitment to broad consultations with party elders and stakeholders at both the state and national levels, saying their guidance remains crucial to the party’s unity and electoral success.
He said his “Realistic Tomorrow” agenda remains a collective vision aimed at building a stronger and more united APC capable of delivering a government that future generations of Oyo residents would be proud of.
