Breaking News: ADC Exploiting Buhari’s Death for Relevance, Not APC – Tinubu’s Aide Fires Back
The Presidency has fired back at the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the opposition party as “utterly shameless” for accusing the Bola Tinubu-led administration of exploiting the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari for political gain.
In a scathing statement issued on Saturday, Sunday Dare, Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication to President Tinubu, said the ADC’s allegations were not only baseless but also an “insult to millions of Nigerians” mourning the late president.
On Friday, the ADC had slammed the government, describing the special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held in Buhari’s honour as “political theatre” and a “calculated PR stunt” aimed at boosting the Tinubu administration’s image.
But Dare, in his response, accused the opposition party of being the true opportunists.
“The ADC is the one exploiting Buhari’s death for political attention, not this government,” he stated. “They have chosen to dance on Buhari’s grave for relevance.”
He went further to criticize the presence of key opposition figures like Atiku Abubakar and Nasir El-Rufai in Daura, which he referred to as a “choreographed arrival” filled with chants aimed at making political capital out of a solemn occasion.
“For clarity, President Tinubu’s administration is neither desperate nor searching for cheap popularity. This government would rather allow its growing list of achievements to speak louder than the noisy irrelevance of groups like the ADC,” Dare said.
He maintained that Buhari was buried with full honours deserving of his status, noting the presence of world leaders, widespread national coverage, and the outpouring of respect from Nigerians across the globe.
Dare urged the public to disregard what he described as “political noise from an outfit gasping for attention.”
