Oyo 2027: Legal Luminary Niyi Aborisade Declares Governorship Ambition, Pledges to Build on Makinde’s Legacy
Renowned legal practitioner and prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Niyi Aborisade, has officially declared his intention to contest for the governorship of Oyo State in the 2027 general elections.
Aborisade, who is also a respected human rights activist with over three decades of advocacy, made the announcement on Wednesday during a strategic meeting with party stakeholders and supporters at the SDP House, located along Old Ife Road, WEMA area, Ibadan.
Speaking at the gathering, Aborisade emphasized his commitment to delivering visionary leadership and sustaining the progressive achievements of the current administration led by Governor Seyi Makinde.
“I am fully prepared for this task. I want to move Oyo State forward and ensure it becomes one of the best states in the country,” he said. “With my background in law and human rights activism, I believe I have what it takes to provide the kind of good governance our people deserve.”
Aborisade reiterated his desire to bring about meaningful development and continuity, stating that Governor Makinde has laid a solid foundation that must not only be preserved but also improved upon.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has done tremendously well. His administration has set a great example, and I am committed to upholding and surpassing that standard,” he noted.
Expressing confidence in his chances, Aborisade described himself as the most qualified among the emerging aspirants within the party.
“I believe I am the best candidate for the PDP ticket. I possess the competence, vision, and experience to lead Oyo State to greater heights,” he declared.
With his declaration, Chief Niyi Aborisade joins the growing list of contenders positioning themselves for the 2027 gubernatorial race, as public demand for capable and accountable leadership continues to grow across Nigeria.
